Nitro Bar is commonly made from a 1045/1050 carbon steel bar that has been surface hardened using a Nitriding process that produces a black in color rod. Nitro Bar or shafting has a 64Rc-71Rc surface hardness, is environmentally friendly, cost effective, and superior performing alternative to hard chrome plated bar stock. Nitrided Bar stock has a minimum corrosion resistance of 150 hours which is more than double that of standard chrome plated bar. This makes Nitro Bar a great replacement for most hydraulic cylinder rod applications.
